The Modests ★★★

The Classic Grand, Glasgow

Despite having their Barrowlands gig cancelled at the last minute, The Modests still managed to secure a 30 minute set as part of the Charity Sadowski Fest.
The four piece Glasgow band performed a series of original songs including 07505, which was explain to be titled after the lead singer, Jacksons phone number. P.S The World was also evidently the most popular song of the night, and despite poor sound quality during parts of the set, the band still managed to encourage the crowd throughout their performance. The Elvis cover of ‘Heartbreak Hotel” created a great atmosphere throughout the room and further original songs including “Call The Cops” and “In The Wings” were performed before the band thanked the crowd and left the stage.

A great improvement could be seen from their previous performance at George Square , which can be read here. And with a recent interview in The Evening Times and having secured a whole list of upcoming gigs, this band have clear high hopes and ambitions.
Go check them out!

Daniel Docherty ★★★

Classic Grand, Glasgow

Often found on Buchanan street with a guitar in hand, The young Glasgow busker managed to draw in crowds despite this gig being so last minute and for £6 a ticket, it was well worth it.

The 35 minute set consisted of a cover of “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls and a load of his original songs including “Ghosts” and “A Fighting Mind”. Towards the end of the set, “Busking” proved to be a great hit with the crowd, providing heaps of laughter with every verse, and with this, it was clear to see why his fan base is rapidly on the increase.

A few more cover versions would have been good ,however with other upcoming artists within the line up on the night, many lacking original songs of the same quality, Daniels choice of songs proved to work in his favour, And another great gig was delivered.

Great wee gig

Definetly watch this space.
